• Looks like xfdashboard and xfce4-soundmenu-plugin are two good candidates.

If we go with xfdashboard, use only the stable branch or stick with the latest development release?

We'd likely want to change the recommends from hamster-indicator to hamster-indicator | xfce4-hamster-plugin, and may want to do something about gnome-icon-theme recommendation too?

No upstream releases, less installs from the PPA than it's counterpart, xfdashboard.

Looks like a fair number of installs, and perhaps useful.

• Our downstreams don't have these already (LinuxMint).
• Basic stats, could be a little off but gives the general idea.
